Information and interpretation

According to Interpretation Canada, "Interpretation is a communication process, designed to reveal meanings and relationships of our cultural and natural heritage, through involvement with objects, artifacts, landscapes and sites." We at Sustainable by Nature help clients to use interpretive communication, not simply to presenting information, but as a specific communication strategy to translate that information for people, from the technical language of the expert, to everyday language. This can be done through a diversity of means, including tour guide scripts, self-guided booklets or signs and may include guide training in interpretive techniques and guiding. We favor participatory processes to allow our customers to acquire and apply interpretation techniques by themselves. We have carried out interpretation at national parks, private reserves, agricultural lands, agro-industrial developments and local communities.
